What We Do

The Palliative Pain and Symptom Management Consultation Program, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care works towards ensuring that individuals with life-threatening or advanced disease and their families have access to health care providers who have expertise in the management of pain and other distressing symptoms.

The purpose of this Program is to develop a process to ensure that all individuals in the Erie St. Clair and South West LHINs have equal access to excellent pain control and symptom management.

The Pain & Symptom Management Consultants provide:

  • Telephone consultation and information to health care providers and the public.
  • On-site palliative pain & symptom management consultation in long term care facilities, hospitals and homes.
  • In-services related to Hospice Palliative Care and Pain & Symptom Management.
  • Information about available community/provincial/national resources.
  • Information about palliative care, grief and bereavement issues.
  • Advocacy
